About Dr. Terri Bacow

Headshot of NYC Therapist Terri Bacow PhD who is smiling

I have been providing therapy in New York City for over 15 years. I enjoy working with clients experiencing life transitions, such as becoming a new parent or starting college or graduate school. Working with me, means embarking on a journey where your mental health and well-being are the primary focus. Change is GOOD but is not without stress.  It is important to learn coping strategies for stress, anxiety and mood management to help us get through it!

My Specialties are:

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Maternal Mental Health (infertility, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond)

  • Adult ADHD

  • College Adjustments (academic stress, roommates & more)

  • Disordered eating and body image

  • Relationships & Self-Esteem (navigating marriage, conflict and breakups)

I am a therapist who is also hard of hearing, which I believe brings a unique perspective to my practice.

My experiences have deepened my empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by those who are “a little different.” It’s an insight that allows me to connect with clients on a more profound level. My experiences are not yours, but they enable me to offer a therapeutic environment that is especially compassionate and inclusive.

Working Together, CBT’s Practical Approach:

My approach to therapy utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a practical approach that helps us dig into how your thought patterns affect your behavior and feelings. The goal? To equip you with the tools to reshape those thoughts and, by extension, your life.

CBT has been a game-changer for many of my clients, whether they're dealing with stress, anxiety, or even more complex issues.
